How Twilight Works

Here's my latest piece for epipheo which is starting to get a lot of views... it's more of a self-promotional piece for epipheo and a website called theoatmeal.com. The video is p based off this web comic here

Most of the drawings were provided, but I did a few of them since it was hard to get in touch with the artist. The whole filmstrip idea was my idea... it turned out pretty good.

Left behind....

I thought I'd go ahead and post this even though it's still a work in progress.  I'm currently creating an illustration series named inspire which is a lot less "cheesy inspirational" and more like quirky & motivational.  I was only able to finish 4 illustrations for my leave behind, but I plan to have 10 very soon.  I like the way they've come out so far, so I'll probably try to sell prints on Etsy as well.

The scale for these is 18" by 6" and I printed them on a warm tone (cheap) strathmore water color paper which already came cut to this size in a 12 pack for only five bucks. And the quality of the prints is really good for it not being "inkjet" paper...

And to hold the pieces together, I made a belly band that held together by a cutout circle fitting over one of those CD button things from Sam Flax. Then I placed my best of CD on top of that.






Here's the digital version of these images.... The one with the bear (my favorite) is more of what I intended for the book I created for Paige's class.. I just didn't have the time to get it done...







And since I never posted this... here's my final resume... like my business card, I have to fill out the part on the right manually...

I drew this during critique in Stan's class the other day.. guess I found a use for it. I think I might redo this later with a more realistic looking bear...



I also just made this graduation announcement to send out to family and friends. hope they send me money :)

Hate.

I hate coding websites. I get one part working, and try to add more and it breaks the first part. It's like an endless cycle of fail. I "kinda" got my gallery/video system set up" and attempted to create a working menu system for my website today. Only problem, every menu setup I try, breaks the gallery... here's a chart of my progress



if someone forced me at gunpoint to program code... I'd tell them to pull the trigger.

Chuck / My new toys

I'm making this post to come back and remind myself how sometimes something so simple can end up looking pretty good. I decided to further develop my concept for the Chuck CD and getting rid of the guitar image and instead use guitar picks and a tree to further push the idea of GREEN packaging. I started out with some simple shapes drawin over a quick sketch and then went to work in photoshop and came up with this...

That's the front cover, the back cover, the inside cover, and the CD.  The background behind the CD will probably just be a square version of the CD art...  I haven't gotten feedback on this yet, but I like it... so far..  This is meant to be printed on a recycled cardboard stock, so I don't really think I could make a ghost box on the titles on the back cover.. so that might get changed

Other than that... I spent this past weekend with a friend up at Stan's amazing cabin... I was able to get some good work done and also discovered the awesomeness of Corel Painter 11.  Since getting my Wacom Intuos tablet last week, I haven't had time to use it much, but here's the second thing I drew....

This is just part of the awesome view from the back of Stan's cabin, and I digitally painted this using Corel.  If you have a tablet, you might want to see about getting this program as it allows you to make some awesome stuff.  This was my first time using the program and I got this result which is pretty nice.  I can't wait till we get done with school so I can really learn how to use it... If nobody told me beforehand, I'd think this was a real painting...
